Real Man Ministries Commissioning

When a man completes the nine book curriculum, he is qualified to be commissioned as a Minister to Men. This is not a requirement of the course, but a choice. A choice to be a man who desires to be commissioned or charge with a mission.

The commissioning ceremony is not a completion, it is a commencement. A new beginning for each man not only to live the principles he has learned, but also to teach others. In this way he fulfills 2 Timothy 2:2 which directs us to take the things we have learned and teach others who shall be able to teach others as well. We state it this way: “Teach to teach until all are taught.”

The commissioning ceremony is a regal event. Men and their wives, sons and daughters gather usually at a banquet. Testimonies of changed lives are shared. Then the ceremony begins.

Usually there is a guest speaker who brings a message appropriate for the evening. The pastor and men’s leader share their perspectives on the accomplishment of the men. They describe the symbolism of the “sword” that each man will receive. The sword of course symbolizes the “Word of God.”

Then an arbor is formed of men and swords. Each is announced with “The Sword of the Lord and (their name)”. At that moment they walk through the arbor. As they come to the end of the arbor, they meet their pastor and men’s leader. The man who is being commissioned will go to one knee and is prayed for by the pastor as the men’s leader hands him his sword which has his name on it. He takes the sword and moves to the front of the room as other men follow through with the same process.

Upon the completion of each man receiving his sword, the men are led in a commissioning commitment entitled “The Fellowship of Commissioned Men”. This is their commitment to teach and share the principles with others. At this point, the men are directed to unsheathe their swords and raise them up. The class of men are presented to the congregants as Commissioned Men.
